It’s that time of year again. A NEW YEAR!!! New year, new vibes, new goals- EVERYTHING NEW.
While it sounds cliché to so many, I really do love the beginning of a new year.
A new year represents opportunities. A new year is a time for fresh starts and new goals. And while yes, it’s true you can choose to start over at any time, a new year just feels like a perfect time for new beginnings.
Every year, I make resolutions or goals. And by the end of January, I’m like, “Bruh, I need a redo.” (Like, I literally just posted this on IG a week ago). By the time June gets here, most of the time I have forgotten about the long list of goals and tasks I have set out to accomplish because, you know life. However, this year I decided to do something different. Instead of waiting until the last week of December to think about what I needed/wanted to do differently in the new year, I decided I would start in November.
Since November, I’ve been thinking long and hard about what I wanted to do differently in 2019. I thought about it, I prayed about it, wrote in my journal—all of that—but one thing or word kept sticking out to me: “Consistency.” And that’s it.
In 2019, I plan to be more consistent. Not just in one area of my life, but in all areas of my life. Rather that be the gym, food choices, school, blogging, vlogging—all of that. I notice that I tend to go really hard in one area of my life, and as a result, something else goes lacking. By being consistent and doing my best everyday (The Four Agreements, if ya don’t know) I can commit to everything I undertake and be pleased with my effort at all times.
Will this be hard for me? Absolutely. It has already proven to be true within the first month of 2019. Will I fall short? Been there, done that. However, consistency is not what you do once, it’s what you practice and commit to continuously. So, although I have, and will stumble, 2019 is guaranteed to be my best year yet because these tiny steps will add up.
So lets make a toast… here’s to 2019, and keeping it consistent.
